Homemade Laundry Detergent
Ingredients:
- 7 ounces of washing soda
- 3 tablespoons of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of castile soap
- 5 cups of water
Directions:
To make homemade laundry detergent, you will need to mix the baking soda, washing soda, and citric acid together in a bowl.
Then, slowly add the hot water and stir until the ingredients are fully dissolved.
Pour the mixture into a Mason jar or other container with a lid, and store in a cool, dry place.
I like reusing vinegar jugs. If you don’t have one, you can get a plastic jug here.
To use:
Place your clothing in the washer first (this allows for the soap to distribute more evenly).
Add 1-2 tablespoon of detergent to each load of laundry.
You may need to adjust this amount depending on the size of the load.
Homemade Dish Soap
Ingredients:
- ½ cup of castile soap
- ¼ cup of water
Directions:
To make homemade dish soap, combine the castile soap and water in a soap dispenser
Give a little shake until the ingredients are fully combined.
To use:
Just pump onto a sponge to wash the dishes or place a small amount onto a wet cloth to clean the counters.
Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner
Ingredients:
- ½ cup white vinegar
- ¼ cup water
- essential oils (optional)
Directions:
To make a homemade all-purpose cleaner, combine the vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
Give a little shake and that’s it.
To use:
Spray on all hard surfaces like windows, mirrors, counters and tile floors.
Do not use on granite counters as this will etch the surface.
Homemade Glass Cleaner
Ingredients:
– ½ cup white vinegar
– ¼ cup water
Directions:
To make homemade glass cleaner, combine the vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
Shake until the ingredients are fully combined.
If desired, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance.
You can add the water or just use the vinegar straight.
To use:
Fairly obvious.. spray on any glass surfaces the same way you would use a conventional glass cleaner.
(This is the same recipe as the all-purpose cleaner so, you can clean a lot of surfaces with just one product.)
Homemade Furniture Polish
Ingredients:
– ½ cup olive oil or almond oil
– ¼ cup white vinegar
Directions:
To make homemade furniture polish, combine the olive oil or almond oil and vinegar in a mason jar.
Shake until the ingredients are fully combined.
To use:
Add a small amount onto a microfiber cloth and polish any wood surfaces. Start with a small amount and adjust to the size of the area.
Homemade Carpet Cleaner
Ingredients:
– ½ cup baking soda
– ¼ cup white vinegar
– ¼ cup water
Directions:
To make homemade carpet cleaner, mix the baking soda, vinegar, and water together in a bowl. Stir until the ingredients are fully combined. Pour the cleaner into a Mason jar or other container with a lid, and store in a cool, dry place.
To use:
Use a sponge or cloth to dab the area that needs to be cleaned. For full carpet cleaning, just sprinkle some baking soda over the carpet and then vacuume up.
Homemade Soft Scrub
Ingredients:
– ¼ cup white vinegar
– ¼ cup baking soda
– ⅛ cup water
Directions:
To make homemade soft scrub, mix the baking soda, vinegar, and water together in a mason jar.
Shake until the ingredients are fully combined.
To use:
Apply one tablespoon of soft scrub to any dirty surface and scrub until clean.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Works great for the bottom of the tub or anywhere there is soap scum.
Homemade Drain Cleaner
Ingredients:
– ½ cup baking soda
– ¼ cup white vinegar
Directions:
To make homemade drain cleaner, pour the baking soda on the drain.
Then, pour the white vinegar over top.
You will see that it will begin to foam up.
Let sit for about 10 minutes.
Finish with pouring hot water over the drain.
For really tough clogs, repeat the process.
If this still doesn’t work, look at getting these drain snakes. They work wonders!
